Supporting and Volunteering

Guided walks and trails

We have worked with local heritage groups and volunteers to create guided and self-guided walks for visitors to follow around the Carpenters Road Lock area.

The route brings together the stories that belong to this place and you can join a tour led by some of our volunteers who have become guided walk leaders.

For visitors who want to to follow a trail at their own pace, we are creating a self-guided audio trail that you can follow.  This trail will let you use your mobile phone to view old photos of the canals and industries, and listen to a local historian talking about the unusual history of the area. Click here to see this trial, which starts at the London Aquatics Centre and takes about 45 minutes.

For family groups there is a fun Family Trail to follow, looking for clues to solve puzzles, and testing your powers of observation! You can pick up a printed copy of this trail at the Information Point near the London Aquatics Centre, or you can download and print it. Click here to find out more.
